Becoming a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church
Trinity is an open, involved, and welcoming congregation of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). We are always delighted to receive new members, and invite you to join us on our journey of faith. If you are interested in becoming a member, please speak with an usher or worship assistant following the worship service, or call the office at 297-6513.
Methods for Joining the Presbyterian Church
• Profession of Faith: A person who has never been a member of any Christian church, or who has been baptized but never offically "joined" a church, makes a profession of faith in Jesus Christ.
• Certificate of Transfer: A person who is a member of some other Christian church and wishes to unite with Trinity may request that the secretary write for her or his letter of transfer. Your previous church will commend your membership to us.
• Reaffirmation of Faith: Some churches do not transfer members. If this is the case, we will help you join by Reaffirmation. You will be asked to reaffirm your faith in Jesus Christ. No "rebaptism" is required.
• Affiliate Membership: A person who is a member of another Presbyterian church but who will only temporarily be in the Nashville area may use this category. An affiliate member is offically connected to Trinity for a period of one year while maintaining membership in her or his present church. The affiliate relationship may be renewed.
"The incarnation of God in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ gives to the church not only its mission but also its understanding of membership.
One becomes an active member of the church through faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and acceptance of his Lordship in all life. Baptism and a public profession of faith in Jesus as Lord are the visible signs of entrance into the active membership of the church"
